    Service Dogs

A Service Dog helps a person with a disability lead a more independent life. According to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a service dog is “a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability.”

    Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs are dogs who go with their owners to volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes. From working with a child who is learning to read to visiting a senior in assisted living, therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to improve the lives of other people. Therapy dogs are not service dogs.

    Emotional Support Dogs

An emotional support dog is a type of dog that provides comfort to help relieve a symptom or effect of a person's disability. They may be trained for a specific owner, but they are NOT trained for specific tasks or duties to aid a person with a disability, and this is the main difference between ESAs and service dogs.

    Rehab Training

Helping you fix dangerous and stressful behaviors in your dog such as aggression and guarding. Also for dogs with specific fears that need desensitization. Resource guarding is when a dog reacts when they perceive a threat to a valuable resource in their possession. Likewise, it’s important for both you and your family to understand the often subtle signs of fear, anxiety, and stress that your dog is expressing.

Josh with VK9 has really helped us learn dog psychology in order to learn how to control our dog. I like that he did not start training reward-based and explained that our dog’s behaviors are a product of what we as owners are doing, and helped us correct this. For reference, our precious doggy, Gideon, is a 100-lb American Bulldog rescue who is very aggressive toward men he doesn’t know and even kn situations he is unsure of. Also, Josh always met us where it was convenient for us. I can now say that while Gideon will always be protective over his family, he is overall calmer and we can control a situation before it gets bad. He is so much less reactive to strangers than he used to be. He has come a long way and the value of what you get with Veteran K9 is totally worth the money…I highly recommend this trainer.

Ok let me first start of by saying, your dog is not the only one that gets trained. Josh is amazing with dogs and their owners. He is patient, very knowledgeable, but most of all he knows not every dog is the same. He has different ways to train your dog. Trust me his ways work. My dog Tank at first was untrainable but today he is has just a few more test to be ceritfied as my service dog. If you dog is not nice with others check into the PackWalk offered on the VeteranK9 wesite. Its a great time and great training for you and your dig. Thank you Josh

Josh is incredibly professional and knowledgeable when it comes to training dogs (and humans). We added a rescue to our family and he taught us how to make the transition comfortable for her and how to build her confidence. In addition, he taught us how to help the rescue and our existing dog become a pack. 10/10 WOULD RECOMMEND!

With just ONE Veteran K9 session, we saw groundbreaking progress with our timid foster dog. Services were professional, in depth, and effective. We learned almost as much as our dog did!

Did 1 session with Josh and have 5 more. The guy was courteous, professional and showed a genuine interest in dogs! I train people. I teach dogs. That’s his way of approaching the relationship between humans and dogs. Look forward to the rest of the sessions!!! Thank you sir.

I run a foster based rescue in Memphis and met Josh a few months back. I take our training very seriously and will only work with positive reinforcement trainers. I asked Josh probably 100 questions and he answered every single on to put me at ease. I have also had him meet with my volunteers, and a few dogs to get a feel of what he does. Everyone was incredibly impressed and we have already noticed a change in the dogs after a few sessions. Josh not only worked with the dogs, but also the fosters-so that they will continue to be better fosters for future dogs. I cannot recommend Josh enough. He is also very quick to respond to calls and texts. I also really appreciated him following up with fosters after the training to see how it was going. Memphis is lucky to have this guy helping dogs and people become better.

      Social Responsability

Veteran K9 supports Be.A.S.T. Ministries Inc. closely and does whatever we can to help foster kids aging out of the system.

      Mission Statement

"SAVING ONE PERSON, ONE RESCUE AT TIME."

Our mission and our goal is to help as many people as we can with the needs that they have. We are a company strictly for the regular, every day working person. This is why it is so important to us that we can offer service dog training as well as therapy and emotional support dog training at a great price. We hope that we can help you!

      Value Added Services

Veteran K9, as many clients attest to, approaches dog training from all sides. What we mean by that, is training is not simply about correcting a dog's negative behavior; we teach the owners the psychology behind that behavior so that the owner is empowered to handle every new situation that comes from a relationship with their four-legged friend. Thus, giving owners more value in our services. Our goal is that, after your experience with us, you will never need a trainer again with your new experience.

      We Love Rescues

Although we love all dogs and want to help owners and dogs become the pack they want to be, rescues have a special place in our hearts. Rescues are fully capable of learning and adopting a job, in fact, they thrive at having a purpose. This is why we ONLY use rescues as our dogs. These dogs are excited to have a pack that they can contribute to and they typically work to please their people after they realize they are going to a good home.
